Amy Thomas has a hard time saying “client.” It's much more natural for her to say “friend.” As a financial planner with Foster & Motley since 1998, Amy has made many, many friends. When she joined the firm after years in public accounting, she had two goals: take care of people and spend more time with her family. Over 20 years later, Amy is proud of the way she has spent one of her most valuable assets – time.
Amy is the expert and friend you want by your side when the landscape of life is uncertain. From 1989 to 1992 she worked as a senior accountant in the audit division for KPMG Peat Marwick. While at KPMG Peat Marwick, Amy earned her CPA. She enjoys working with a variety of clients including small business owners, retirees, and employees of large corporations with various benefits, including stock options. She also especially enjoys working with women and their specific financial needs, along with recent widows and widowers.
Amy has gained a reputation of going the extra mile to ensure client success. It’s not unusual for her to spend an afternoon sorting out a complex challenge, taking time to teach important financial principles, or even going to government offices with clients to act as an advocate.
Today Amy has a great sense of accomplishment as she watches clients enjoy retirement free from worry about their financial health. And, she loves working with second generation clients as they are just starting out.
Work and personal life are one happy blur to Amy. She regularly helps her family as they make legacy decisions with her five siblings, leads her neighborhood community association, and applies her expertise as she volunteers with Kings Local Schools and her children’s sports teams. Right now, she’s realizing one of her financial dreams as she sends her son to college at the University of Cincinnati and one of her daughters to Samford University.
