After a long career as a trusted financial advisor, Dave Foster retired as of 4/30/19. He still acts as counsel to the firm and continues to help with special projects and client transition.
It’s not surprising Dave Foster recently discovered a love of rock climbing. The strategic decision-making, teamwork and thrill of helping others reach a goal in climbing are much like the moments Dave has experienced for decades as a financial planner. Fairness, honesty and an unwavering commitment to do what is best for clients, employees and shareholders have been hallmarks of Dave’s career. Those guiding principles were established early in life when he used to beg his four siblings to play Stocks and Bonds “just one more time.”
Even after more than 25 years of helping people through financial planning, Dave believes there is always more work to do. As the circumstances of people’s lives change quickly, Dave considers it an honor to bring a calm expertise even in difficult times for clients.
Dave is a true visionary in the financial industry. When he joined forces with Mark Motley in 1996, it was incredibly unique for investment advisors and financial planners to be housed in the same office and charge a combined fee for their work. But, Dave and Mark saw a tremendous benefit to clients, and on that merit, they began a firm which set an industry standard. Today the team at Foster & Motley will tell you that Dave’s vision for the future is alive and well. He strategically built a staff he can trust to serve generations of clients. His eyes light up when he talks about the younger shareholders of the firm shaping the future.
Dave’s integrity and forward thinking have been recognized nationally numerous times. He has been a guest on CNBC and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, USA Today, Morningstar Investor, Ed Slott’s IRA Advisor, Investors Daily, Kiplinger Retirement Newsletter, Working Mother Magazine, Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati Post, and the Greater Cincinnati Business Courier, as well as a number of books on financial planning.
Dave hasn’t just built a business; he’s established a legacy. At the center of that legacy is his family – his wife Maryanne and their 4 children. Together, Dave and Maryanne use their time and energy to help their local community overcome poverty issues. Much like climbing the face of a towering rock, overcoming poverty happens one small foothold at a time and the Fosters aren’t afraid to take the first step.
